Carbon tetrachloride is used as a solvent in the rubber industry. It is used as an occluding and nonoxidizing agent in fire extinguishers. It is used as a dry cleaning solvent, degreasing agent, refrigerant, fumigant, in fire extinguishers and for lacquers and varnishes.
