About Methacrylic acid

Methacrylic acid, is an organic compound that is colorless, viscous liquid with an acrid unpleasant odor. Methacrylic acid is prepared from acetone cyanohydrin, which is converted to methacrylamide sulfate using sulfuric acid.

Methacrylic acid is used in copolymers to enhance performance in adhesives, sealants, printing inks, paint, coatings, varnishes, and textile finishes. It is used in making fibers, plastic sheets, resins, moldings, and other organic chemicals.
