About Butyl carbitol acetate

Diethylene glycol monobutyl ether acetate is a colorless liquid with a mild odor. It is a high boiling, slow evaporating ester solvent that provides a good balance of volatility, solvency and water solubility.

Butyl carbitol acetate enables deep permeation into the textile, with its low vapor pressure and boiling point. The ability of this solvent to distribute between the aqueous and polymeric phases contributes to film formation and formulation stability. It is used as a solvent for nitrocellulose, oils, dyes, gums, soaps, and polymers, and as a plasticizer in lacquers and coatings.
