About Benzoyl Chloride
Benzoyl Chloride mainly useful for the production of peroxides is a colourless, fuming liquid with an irritating odour. It is produced from benzotrichloride using either water or benzoic acid. It reacts with water to produce hydrochloric acid and benzoic acid.
Benzoyl chloride may be used in the synthesis of N,N-diethylbenzamide via condensation with diethylamine. It is also used in the preparation of perfumes, dyes, resins, and pharmaceuticals.
