About 1-Decanol
1-Decanol is a colorless to water-white liquid with a sweet floral or fruity odor. It can be prepared by the hydrogenation of decanoic acid, which occurs in modest quantities in coconut oil and palm kernel oil. It may also be produced synthetically via the Ziegler process.
1-Decanol is used as a chemical intermediate in the production of esters and fragrances and as an artificial flavor in foods. It is used in the manufacture of plasticizers, lubricants, surfactants and solvents.
